1968

Carmela was active in PTA, Girl Scouts, C.C.D. and church affairs. She received a 25 year scout pin a few years ago. Mario is very active with the Lions Club. He was also president of the Lions Club at one time. He ran the blood bank many times. He has raised money for the blind. He also belongs to the Knights of Columbus. Mario loves to play the trumpet. He and a few other professional men have formed a band and they play for charity. He also likes playing golf. Carmela and Mario's daughter, Terry, goes to college at Georgian Court in Lakewood, N.J. Denise is in high school and their youngest Marion is in grammar school. Carm goes to work as a secretary.

Tony and Lorraine's family is also growing up. Their second daughter Sharon is going to college. She is studying Physical Therapy. Tony and Barbara are in high school and two are in grammar school. Tony and Lorraine have to work hard to save money to send the others to college.

By 1968 Ann and Dick were blessed with six children - three girls, Marie, Debra, Brenda and three boys, Richard, Nicholas and John. They became too crowded in their small house in Parsippany, N.J., so they went around looking for a piece of land to build on. Finally they bought an acre of wooded land in Mountain Lakes, N.J. The town is very suburban with one store, beautiful schools, a municipal building and churches. Taxes are very high in Mountain Lakes.

Dick cleared the woods and demolished a small house that was on the lot. We would go weekends and stay there so that my husband could help Dick. Tony and Dick got along very well. Dick drew plans for an 11-room house with a two car garage, a large basement, a laundry room, three bathrooms and a large entrance hall. About five years ago they added another large room; it now has 12. The place is big enough now. The house is all brick. All their neighbors have beautiful homes. I joke with Ann, “If your husband was not a contractor with his two brothers you would never be able to live there.” The children love living there. My daughter and her husband have their hands full. They keep themselves active with school affairs, C.C.D., Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. The two oldest girls help Ann keep house. They love to bake and sew. Dick and Ann give the children piano lessons and they play different instruments in the school band. They are always driving them here and there. They work together. The children all have their chores to do and things get done.

John and Rosemarie were blessed with another child. His name was Thomas. He was born nine years after Steven. Now they had four children, one girl and three boys. Today Joanne is married. John, the oldest, is engaged and plans to get married, Steven will graduate from an Electrical school soon and Tommy is 11 years old. Rose goes to work as a secretary. Our son John travels all over for his company. He is a trouble-shooter in his field. He sees that ships get converted to oil. Boilers in factories are fixed and kept in working order. Hospital boilers are kept in top condition. He has been sent to Washington, D.C., Baltimore, California, Washington State, Florida, the Carolinas, Virginia, Missouri, Puerto Rico and all over New York State. He even went to Israel. Rose has to be mother and father to the children while John is away. They are good children. John is a good son and father. He calls me up to find out how I feel.
