Phyl and Dino
1965 All the children were married except Phyl. She was
still working at Lederle as a chemist and living home. When I was 60 and my
husband 64 our daughter met a nice fellow called Dino Ippolito at a C.C.D. club
in N.Y. You had to be a college graduate, catholic and single in order to
belong. She was dating several fellows at that time. One night we got a
telephone call and it was this fellow Dino. Phyl said to Dino, You didn't
even know my name. How did you get my telephone number?
Dino answered, You don't think I'm the vice-president
of the C.C.D. club for nothing. I have ways of finding out.
He called several times. Then he asked her if he could
come to her home and take her out to dinner. She said, Yes.
Dino came by for Phyl. As he was walking to the front
porch I took a good look at him, and I said to myself, He is a good looking
fellow. They went to dinner and had a good time.
Dino took Phyl out for several months and they got
engaged. We gave Phyl an engagement party. Dino has four brothers and three
sisters. Most of them came to the party. All our family also came. Dino has a
brother who is a doctor, one is a lawyer, one a peanut and popcorn king,
another works in textiles. His three sisters were teachers, and he teaches Math
and English at Mamaroneck High School.
Dino and Phyl were both 35. They were engaged nine
months when they decided to get married. Dino wasn't going to take a chance of
losing Phyl. They both loved each other. Two months before they got married
they put their money together and bought an eight room house with four
bedrooms, two bathrooms and two half-baths. It was a lovely home in a nice
neighborhood. At first we thought they were silly to buy a house so soon. It
would not take them very long to fill it up.

Thanks Aunt Ann and Uncle Dick
I just got back from a trip to Ellis Island with my 10 year old daughter Sarah's Class Trip. Found John Lupardi Family on Panel Number 728 on the Immigrant Wall of Honor. Its great to read this history. I did not know that my great grandfather was Giovanni Lopardo. (I guess it became Lupardi when they got to America in 1896) Thanks again

Thanks Ann and Richard. The picture looks terrific. We had no success sending the picture as an attachment to you. Also, thanks for the tremendous work you have done on Mom's Memoirs. Lasting memories for our whole family.
