Hi

You really helped me out 3 years ago when I needed a schedule for bridge for 24 couples..

Our numbers have changed.  We now have only 16 couples who are permanent bridge partnerships who always play together against another couple.  They will meet 7 times (October through April) and the 16 couples will play at 4 different sites each month.

We would like to minimize the number of times that one team plays another team and also try not to have them play at the same site.  I realize that having fewer teams may make it impossible to prevent two couples from playing together more than once.

Any help will be sincerely appreciated!

Thanks

Hello Norma,

I hope the schedule below will work for you.  For the first 5 rounds every pairing of couples occurs exactly once.  So the last two rounds have all the repeated matches.  I don't think that it is possible to both balance the sites and have the properties I have just described.

Hope that helps,

Ian.

Ian

Thanks so much for your quick and excellent reply to my request.  It's good to know there are experts out there who can figure difficult calculations easily.

You are a wizard!
