Hello,

I am running a winter games tournament, I have 22 teams who need to play 7 different games. I have 2 sets of every game, I need each team to play each game once and not play any team more than once. If adding in a (BYE) round helps that is fine as well.

I use to do this trial and error with a grid and playing cards for hours on end, but , life doesnt permit that anymore.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

The playing cards sound like a major headache!  I would split the 22 teams into 1 group of 10 teams and 1 group of 12 teams.  Then for the 1st group and the 1st set  of equipment schedule:

(D G) (I F) (---) (E H) (J B) (---) (A C)
(I E) (J H) (B C) (G A) (---) (D F) (---)
(H B) (---) (I A) (J F) (D C) (G E) (---)
(A F) (B E) (D H) (I C) (---) (---) (J G)
(---) (C G) (---) (D B) (E F) (J A) (I H)
(J C) (---) (F G) (---) (H A) (I B) (D E)
(---) (D A) (J E) (---) (I G) (C H) (F B)

Where the rows are the 7 rounds and the 7 columns are the different games. For the 2nd group and 2nd set of equipment I would schedule

(B L) (E D) (---) (C I) (K H) (F G) (A J)
(D C) (---) (K L) (F A) (G J) (B I) (E H)
(G H) (L I) (A E) (D J) (F B) (K C) (---)
(K J) (F C) (B H) (---) (E I) (A L) (G D)
(A I) (K G) (F D) (L H) (---) (E J) (B C)
(F E) (A H) (C J) (B G) (D L) (---) (K I)
(---) (B J) (G I) (K E) (A C) (D H) (F L)

Above I have used some letters twice, but clearly A to J in the 1st schedule are different teams from A to L in the 2nd schedule.

If you don't tell the teams they are split into the 2 groups they will probably not notice.
