We have 8 males and 8 females. 

Highest priority is for each person to play with the each opposite sex twice.

ie; male 1 plays with female 1 twice, then female 2 twice and so on. 

The games do not have to be in any specific order. 

Is this possible while also keeping the same sex opponent to 2 games?

Looking for 16 games and no byes. There will be 4 courts.

I think there may be a typo in your message above.  There are only 7 possible same sex opponents, and with 16 games to play, the best case scenario is that a player opposes 5 of them twice and 2 of them thrice.   Do you mean keep the opposite sex opponents to 2 games?

I am thinking about this... It is not a problem to meet your "highest priority", it is balancing the opponents that is the challenge.
