Hosting a Beer Olympics, unsure of how many teams will show up. Looking for a schedule for 17 and 18 teams playing 7 or 8 events (whatever works best). Also ok with having buys if that is necessary. Thanks.

In this situation having an odd number of teams is a bad idea, as it is impossible to give everyone the same number of games. Here I am assuming that you would like every team to play all events exactly once, in which case these are the best two schedules to consider:
