Hey everyone ok I am running a floor hockey league at school and originally had 12 teams but increased to 14 teams.

Now the parameters are  each team plays everyone only once and plays as many opponents in a 16 week schedule.  we will also have 6 times for spots

315-345
350-420
425-455
500-530
535-605
610-640

Now obviously 2 of the teams will not play. SO 12 teams will play for 16 weeks hopefully every team can play each other once or play as many people they can.

It's possible to have a 14 round schedule with two byes per round where all 84 pairings are different.

     T1    T2    T3    T4    T5    T6       Bye
 R1 (A B) (C E) (H K) (J N) (D I) (F L)    (G M)
 R2 (B C) (D F) (I L) (K A) (E J) (G M)    (H N)
 R3 (C D) (E G) (J M) (L B) (F K) (H N)    (I A)
 R4 (D E) (F H) (K N) (M C) (G L) (I A)    (J B)
 R5 (E F) (G I) (L A) (N D) (H M) (J B)    (K C)
 R6 (F G) (H J) (M B) (A E) (I N) (K C)    (L D)
 R7 (G H) (I K) (N C) (B F) (J A) (L D)    (M E)
 R8 (H I) (J L) (A D) (C G) (K B) (M E)    (N F)
 R9 (I J) (K M) (B E) (D H) (L C) (N F)    (A G)
R10 (J K) (L N) (C F) (E I) (M D) (A G)    (B H)
R11 (K L) (M A) (D G) (F J) (N E) (B H)    (C I)
R12 (L M) (N B) (E H) (G K) (A F) (C I)    (D J)
R13 (M N) (A C) (F I) (H L) (B G) (D J)    (E K)
R14 (N A) (B D) (G J) (I M) (C H) (E K)    (F L)

Notice that the teams play exactly twice at each of the 6 time slots and have exactly two byes each. Finally note that the two teams who have a bye, play each other in the next round, meaning they are not able to watch their opponents for the next round to assess current form. I suggest you use the schedule above as the basis of your tournament and then add another two rounds. There are 7 matches that are not played above and I have listed them below, what you do for the remaining 5 slots is really up to you.

R15 (A H) (B I) (C J) (D K) (E L) (F M)    (G N)
R16 (G N)

Hope that helps,

Ian.
