Title: 12 teams, 2 divisions, 5 weeks
Post by: bonspielbunny on October 17, 2014, 11:46:40 PM
I can't seem to figure out if it's possible to do a round robin for a curling draw with the following criteria:
12 teams in 2 divisions on 6 sheets of ice with NO ice repeats
I can do the round robin no problem, but it's the icing I'm having troubles with.

I've done it a few times but each time there was at least 2 teams who had ice repeats. It's almost perfect, but not quite, and I cannot figure it out. Currently I have what is attached.

A few years ago I found 16 teams, 2 divisions, 8 sheets of ice with no ice repeats.

Thanks in advance!

I have made a new schedule for 12 teams which should work for your curling league.

( 2  5) ( 1  4) (3  6) (8 11) (7 10) ( 9 12)
(10 12) ( 8  9) (7 11) (4  6) (2  3) ( 1  5)
( 7  9) ( 2  6) (4  5) (1  3) (8 12) (10 11)
( 3  4) (11 12) (1  2) (9 10) (5  6) ( 7  8)
( 1  6) ( 3  5) (8 10) (7 12) (9 11) ( 2  4)

where 1 to 6 is Division 1, and 7 to 12 is Division 2.

The old discussions regarding 16 and 14 teams can be found here.

Hope that helps.

Oh my goodness, thank you so much! With our league starting on Tuesday I was starting to panic but you've made everything alright.  :) Thanks again for saving my butt!  ;) Very much appreciated.
