Title: 10 Golfers, 3 Rounds
Post by: oswaldosborne on August 11, 2021, 11:24:04 AM
Hi,

This forum is so useful - thank you. I'd love to schedule 10 golfers over 3 rounds, arranged in 1 group of 4 and 2 groups of 3 per round, minimising duplicates, but as a priority giving each golfer 1 turn in the group of 4. Obviously, it's not possible to get everyone playing with everyone, but I'd like to get as good as I can!

Many thanks in advance!

Tom

In short there is no nice solution to this problem.   It will not be possible to avoid having some pairs of players who play together twice, and futhermore, by giving priority to balancing the groups of 4, you will end up with more of these pairs than otherwise.  So my question is do you still want to give priority to balancing the groups of 4 if it will have a negative impact on the social mixing aspect of the schedule?
