Hi Brian,

The following schedule should work.  Each pair of players meets exactly 3 times, either once as partners and twice as opponents, or twice as partners and once as opponents.

  ( 1  7 10) v ( 5  6  9)
  ( 2  8 11) v ( 6  7 10)
  ( 3  9  1) v ( 7  8 11)
  ( 4 10  2) v ( 8  9  1)
  ( 5 11  3) v ( 9 10  2)
  ( 6  1  4) v (10 11  3)
  ( 7  2  5) v (11  1  4)
  ( 8  3  6) v ( 1  2  5)
  ( 9  4  7) v ( 2  3  6)
  (10  5  8) v ( 3  4  7)
  (11  6  9) v ( 4  5  8)

Here is a solution that should work for you where the 11 weeks are the rows.  Additionally the columns are balanced having each team once or twice.  Hope that helps.

Hi there, trying to implement a 12-team round robin where the first and last week have fixed match pairings. The others can be random for all I care. Have poked around for an algo solution and come up empty. Also tried brute-forcing it but I'm losing my mind. If there's anyone who can do this elegantly/efficiently I'd appreciate.

Hoping for help on a switching triples round robin. 11 players, ideally partner with each other player twice & against each player three times. Ian, if you see this, it would be very similar to the 12 team version you made here:

Hi Ian,

Have a look at the attached schedule in the Excel file.  I have highlighted the 'same-club' matches with the purple background.  Note that Club 6 only hosts once - there is no way of avoiding this unless either Club 7 or Club 8 never host.

Hi again Ian

Our situation has changed again.

Your help with a revised draw would be greatly appreciated.

New scenario;

8 clubs supply teams.
4 clubs have 3 teams, 2 clubs have 2 teams and 2 clubs have 1 team.
All  clubs are used as venues equivalent to the number of teams entered.
As previously, I have one condition that none of the roundrobin generating websites allow me to manage.

I want to ensure that when 2 teams from the same club play one another, the match is played on their home course.

I have seen there is no good way to do a good 10 players whist for volleyball with 2 player teams, so I was wondering if a schedule could be made for 10 players, one court would be playing 3 vs 3, the other court 2 vs 2? This would need to be whist style, where you play with different partners ever round, as evenly as possible, so ever players plays the same number of 3's games and 2's games.

There is indeed nothing tidy here.  There is a perfect solution for 9 players which you can find here.  If you truly want everyone to play each other, the only way of achieving this is for two of the players in the foursome to be fixed.  So take the schedule I linked to, and to the four threesomes that contain player I add player J.
